Nuclear power:

Nuclear reactors are an interesting topic for high school students as they are an interesting application of nuclear physics, and are politically and environmentally important.

My presentation goes over the basics of nuclear reactions, nuclear fusion and fission, and nuclear reactors. I focus on power reactors, in particular, slow thermal neutron reactors (like Pressurized Water Reactors). Breeder reactors and fast neutron reactors are also mentioned. I go over the safety and environmental issues surrounding nuclear power, as well as the benefits of using nuclear power over chemical fuels. See my presentation and the following source links for more information! Under my 'Demo' link, you will find a simple demo to demonstrate a 'nuclear' chain reaction, as well as the difference between a critical and a subcritical system using mouse traps and ping pong balls.
